In Love With Fitness
I was introduced to the gym over twenty years ago and since then I’ve never looked back. I loved the way working out made me feel and the changes it made to my body. Definition, less body fat, abs. Working out made me believe in my strength and ability to accomplish my physical goals.
Now, I realize that some of you work long days and “have no time” for fitness but if you want to achieve optimal health (and live longer!) you will need to get off the couch and start moving. Trust me, once you start seeing results it will be addicting. Making time for exercise is one of the most important things we can do for our health.
My husband and I both wake up in the early morning hours (ok, he’s up way before me) to squeeze in a workout before a busy day. If I don’t get my workout in, you might not want to talk to me that day! We both work out five days a week and sometimes add in a family workout on the weekend. We have a small gym set up at home so I prefer to work out here so no one can hear my unladylike grunting….lol no because of convenience really.
My current goal is to strengthen my core so that I can perfect my handstand. So I’ve been doing planks, planks and more planks. I used to hate doing these but now that they are getting easier for me, I love the challenge of beating my last record. Just putting a good song on as a distraction helps too!
Last week we bought some new GoFit resistance bands that my husband kept telling me about and they are my new favourite piece of equipment. Seriously, they are awesome. You can work your whole body using these. See below my exercise of the week, seated rows using the resistance band. They are also great for bicep curls, shoulders, triceps, pretty much every body part!
Next week, I’ll take a look at some kettle bell exercises so come back to check it out.
