Cleanup time!

Who can believe that it is Easter already? Honestly, the months between Christmas and Easter seem like a blur every year and this year is no different.  Now suddenly the long weekend is upon us and brings with it lots of things to do.  I don’t know about you but I feel a little overwhelmed every spring with all the additional chores and projects that we have been waiting all winter to get going.

The beautiful sunshine allows me to see all the dust in places that were hidden during the darkened winter.  So spring cleaning is definitely a must!  Moving that furniture that hasn’t been moved in ages and cleaning windows and blinds and appliances, the list goes on and on. To be truthful, I am happy each year if I get more than half of the items on my spring cleaning list completed!

Along with the nice weather also comes yard work, cleaning up the gardens and getting ready to open the pool. Since I am at home, I normally try to help with as much of the yard work as possible. We don’t have a huge property but we do like our gardens! I am so excited to get the garden started this year, one project is to expand it. My family’s favourite time of year is pool season, but once it is opened it’s another job to keep up with the maintenance.

Two years ago, my family made a very silly decision to get a labrador retriever puppy. Now don’t get me wrong, I adore this guy most of the time but he has been a real challenge for us.  He requires several walks each day and constant supervision. We must have been much, much younger when we got our first labrador retriever puppy (who we lost a few years ago, sniff sniff), because this guy was a real shock for us and definitely tries our patience. But just look at that face….awww.

While my mind is racing with all the things to do this time of year, I am also trying to focus on studying for my personal trainer exam. I have to actually schedule study time into my days or else I will get carried away doing chores and other things and won’t get to it. This endeavour is very exciting for me and I am looking forward to what the future holds.

People always ask me if I am bored or lonely being at home.  The answer is a big fat no! I am a very active person and can always find things to do. Between cleaning, outside work, the dog, taking my daughter to her numerous activities or planning her birthday party (this is a huge deal for an 7 year old!), study time and volunteer activities, there just doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day. I am not sure how I did it when I was working full time but I do know that I am very fortunate to have more time to get things done now.

However many tasks you feel the need to accomplish this weekend, I hope you will enjoy some time with family and friends. I am realizing more and more as I get older that that is what is really important.

Happy Easter!
